Celebrating its 13th anniversary this year, Back to School Roundup is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing underserved schoolchildren and their families with school supplies and other “back to school essentials” necessary to return to school ready, and equipped, for a successful academic year.
Governed by a Board of Directors comprised of individuals representing a broad spectrum of the community – including health and social agencies, municipalities, businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations and community volunteers, Roundup is centered on the belief that educating children from low income families is one of the best tools available for ending the cycle of poverty, and that community collaboration is invaluable in best serving those in need within Tarrant County.
Over the years Roundup’s partners have grown considerably, with the original organizations committed to the success of this event being Amerigroup, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth, Broadway Baptist Church, Catholic Charities, the City of Fort Worth, First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, Northside Inter-Church Agency, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Tarrant County Government Departments: Administration, Human Resources and Resource Connection, Tarrant County Independent School Districts, and United Community Centers.
